WWE Smackdown - Live Report From Nashville - April 22, 2003

The show started with the WWE history music video which is always cool to see. We got to see the Velocity taping. Very surprised to see Norman Smiley wrestle as he took on the Cat. Norman got stopped hardcore on the big wiggle as the Cat nailed him low. This one may have been a dark match instead of Velocity. Great surprise as Matt Hardy wrestled on Velocity against Funaki. This was a good one. We were making a lot of noise for Version 1. He was the one for sure that I made the most noise for all night. Pretty good matches during Velocity. Then, it was time for Smackdown. The lights went off and the music came on. I was getting chills as the show opened. That pyro was LOUD!!! Show was a good one. One big highlight for me was seeing Rowdy Roddy Piper wrestle. The match was barely even 2 minutes but I could care less. I still saw the man wrestle. He took on Rikishi but was DQ'd on interference from Sean O'Haire. Great to see another legend. He's one of the legends that I haven't seen live and that had bugged me. Now, I can be happy. Benoit and Nunzio was another good match. Rey Mysterio took on Crash who is now the latest Mattitude follower. Matt came down to do commentary during this match. Rey's entrance is amazing to see live. I love how he shoots up from the stage. Rey later interfered in the Big Show/Tajiri match. His music hit during it to distract Big Show. I felt like an idiot looking everywhere trying to see where he was coming from. The music stopped and a minute later he ran through the crowd and jumped in. The steps right to the right of us. I was annoyed as I heard people going crazy but I couldn't find him. I have to say too that the 619 looks awesome. Big Show is unreal with how big he is. He walked around the ring in front of us. Good grief he's big!!! The Sable Inviational Bikini Contest between Torrie Wilson, Dawn Marie, and Nidia. It was hilarious to look around the arena and see how many people were moving as close as they could trying to get pictures of this. Arena was lighting up with camera flashes. The main event was tons better than I thought it was gonna be. Brock Lesnar took on A-Train. Lesnar's pyro where he jumps up on the ring made all of us jump out of our skin. I even knew that it was about to happen, had my camera ready for the picture, and jumped like crazy blurring the camera like crazy. That picture will be funny to see. There is one collision between Lesnar and A-Train that is amazing. They both collide and fall down off the ropes. It sounded and looked awful. Cena was doing commentary during this match as I said earlier. Cena stood up at the announce table and he is a lot bigger than I thought he was. Cena destroyed Lesnar with a chain and bloodied him. I'm assuming that the show will go off the air there. After that, Cena was bragging on what he'd done. Lesnar got up furious and hit him with a nasty F-5 and then posed for the crowd as the show ended. Really fun show to watch live.
