TNA Lockdown 2008 - DVD Review - December 26, 2009

TNA Lockdown 2008. I recently watched this DVD and the show was a thumbs in the middle show from me. The action was fine but as usual with TNA especially at this time, the booking was a negative from me. Match of the night was Lethal Lockdown match with Team Cage taking on Team Tomko. This was a wild one and lots of fun. Crowd was really into this one. This was also the night that Samoa Joe won the TNA championship (FINALLY!!) by defeating Kurt Angle. I was just kind of indifferent to this match as they tried to make it more of a MMA style match. I thought the match was good but just not as good as some of their other matches. The Cuffed In The Cage match screamed bad booking to me. I never liked the Super Eric gimmick. It was just really cheesy to me and it came off like that in this match. The knockouts matches were good which included a fun tag team match with Gail Kim teaming with ODB against Kong and Saeed. The show had a hot opener with the Xscape match for the X-Division championship. Lots of big spots and fun. I barely paid attention to the Booker/Sharmell vs. Roode/Banks match. BG James against Kip James was just there for me. Overall, the show itself gets a thumbs in the middle. Good action but the booking just left me thinking…ok….at times. Fun extras on the DVD which include an inside look at the fan convention where you Borash interview various stars as they interact with the fans. This was about a fourteen minute extra and I enjoyed it a lot. There is also a Joe vs. Angle rematch from Impact a few weeks after this show that is an extra. That is a nice bonus and another extra is photos from the event. I give the DVD itself a thumbs up. I liked the extras put on there. The booking of the event just left me annoyed at times.
